She was the Black Students’ Advisor when l lost my daughter- Goodness to Malaria needlessly. The news got the bigger part of me
Broken and devastated for lack of better terms. Professor Barb got my back. She made sure that l received appropriate counseling, support and planned my going home to be with my bereaved family. And that was about 20 years ago.

Professor Hamilton-Hinch is an honorary advisory member of CHAMA Board and the Assistant Vice Provost Equity and Inclusion at Dalhousie University.

Recently, she was asked to:

“Describe Olugu and his passion to end malaria in Africa?”

Her response was golden and well captured. She said:

“There are few words to describe his passion. He has sacrificed so much to make CHAMA a possibility. I know that every day he is inspired by the memory of his child. I don’t think he will stop this work until EVERY CHILD in this WORLD is safe from malaria. He is one of the soldiers that will enter the battlefield alone if he has to and if he knows it will make a difference. I am proud I can call him my brother. His work inspires me.” (Professor Barb Hamilton-Hinch).
