It is no longer news that dozens of military officers invaded Amangwu Ohafia community in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, in South Eastern Nigeria. According to a widow whose house, goat and properties were set ablaze:

“the stern looking military officers stormed the community in a commando form and started shooting sporadically, setting houses, shops and personal cars on fire. This warranted both the young and old to scamper for safety in nearby villages and we became internally displaced persons (IDPs) overnight and many became sick.”. Homelessness, hunger and sicknesses became a challange.

CHAMA’S INITIAL RESPONSE: FREE MEDICAL MISSION.

In other to ameleorate the health challanges associated with the military invasion, CHAMA’s first response was to sent her team of medical Doctors and other healthcare professionals to provide free medical treatment. On the 26th of June, CHAMA reached out to over 500 displaced people. This was solely sponsored by CHAMA.

RECONSTRUCTION OF THE COMMUNITY: CHAMA BUILDS HOUSE FOR A WIDOW WHO LOST HER HOUSE, 3 GOATS AND OTHER PERSONAL EFFECTS.

During the CHAMA medical mission, the media team interviewed some of the affected people. One of them was a widow, whose house and properties were destroyed, including 3 goats. In the video attached, one can hear the woman lamenting that “she lost everything except the wrapper she was putring.”

While reviewing the report of the medical mission sent by CHAMA team of Doctors, CHAMA CEO, Dr. Olugu Ukpai watched the attached video of the widow and was moved.

The action oriented CEO then sent words to the community to help him locate the widow, whom he never knew and never saw in life and doesn’t even know her name. Dr. Ukpai was finally linked up with her through the phone “I am a widow. I don’t know how long l can live without a roof over my head. I am dying slowly’, she said. CHAMA CEO and Co-Founder, Dr. Ukpai pledged to rebuild her house.

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST EVANGELIST ASSOCIATION, INC.

When CHAMA CEO shared the vision with the General Overseer of Jesus Christ Evangelistic Association, Inc, Pastor Chima, he was inspired and prayed for the CEO. He immediately was moved to partner with CHAMA CEO in this project. It must be mentioned that Pastor Chima is one of Dr. Ukpai’s mentors, right from his University days. Both men made themselves available to be used by God to the glory of God.

“Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt.” (James 1:27).
